Welcome to Heidelberg Presbyterian Church.
Join us for our Sunday Service.
We are doing a series on the book of Galatians—an exciting letter that emphasises the importance of aligning our lives with the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Sunday Service time: 10:00am (with Children Talk every Sunday)
“What if the life you’ve been living isn’t freedom at all—but captivity in disguise? What if true freedom doesn’t come from performance, religion, or rebellion, but from a radical rescue? In a world filled with mixed messages and pressure to earn your worth, the book of Galatians bursts in like a fire alarm in the middle of the night. It’s loud. Urgent. Unapologetic. Paul’s letter isn’t polite—it’s passionate. Because something precious is at stake: the very heart of the gospel. This is not just a letter. It’s a rescue mission.”
Series Summary:
The book of Galatians is a bold, clarion call to reclaim the purity of the gospel—that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Paul writes with urgency and clarity to a church slipping back into spiritual slavery. Over the next few weeks, we’ll journey through this fiery letter to rediscover the freedom Jesus died to give us.
June 1 Galatians 2.1-10 – The Fellowship of the Gospel
This sermon will highlight the unity and partnership among early church leaders as they affirmed the true Gospel message. Despite coming from different backgrounds, Paul, Peter, and others recognised that the Gospel transcended cultural and social boundaries. The message focuses on the importance of maintaining fellowship through a shared commitment to the truth of the Gospel, avoiding division, and embracing God’s mission together.
June 08 1 John 2:3-6 – Holy Spirit Witness (Pentecost Sunday)
This message will explore how genuine faith is evidenced through obedience and love. The Holy Spirit serves as a witness in the believer’s life, transforming hearts and guiding them into a life that reflects Jesus. The sermon emphasises that knowing God is not just intellectual but relational—marked by walking as Jesus walked and being led by the Spirit in daily living.
June 15 Galatians 2:6-14 – Centrality of the Gospel
Paul confronts Peter over his hypocrisy, revealing how easily even leaders can drift from the Gospel’s core message. The sermon will underscore that the Gospel must remain central in all areas of life and ministry, and that any compromise—especially in matters of grace and inclusion—must be addressed. Faithfulness to the Gospel requires courage, clarity, and a commitment to truth over popularity.
June 22 Galatians 2:11-16 – Faith and Law
This sermon will do a deep dive into the foundational Christian truth that justification comes by faith in Christ, not by works of the Law. Paul passionately argues that trying to earn righteousness through rules undermines the grace of God. The message challenges believers to live in the freedom of faith, relying wholly on Christ’s finished work rather than self-effort or legalism.
June 29 The “I AMs” (Preacher: Elder Tom Cunneen)
Elder Tom Cunneen will explore the “I AM” statements of Jesus found in the Gospel of John, revealing Jesus’ divine identity and His relationship with believers. Each statement—such as “I am the bread of life,” “the light of the world,” and “the good shepherd”—points to a unique aspect of Christ’s sufficiency, presence, and saving power. The sermon invites listeners to trust Jesus as the great “I AM” who meets every spiritual need.
